RRHH Digital In today’s post you will find some tips and tricks to perform well in both “TOEIC – Single and Double passages”:
This part consists of a selection of texts: magazine and newspaper articles, letters and advertisements; the candidate must read them and answer multiple-choice questions.
1. Skim the questions in advance before reading the passage in order to establish a focus for reading.
2. Remember the questions while reading; this will help you recognize possible answers to the questions.
3. Read the title and the first line of the text to determine what kind of text it is and to identify the main idea.
4. It may not be necessary to read the entire text. Sometimes simply scanning the passage may be enough. However, an answer may require that you understand information in different parts of the text.
5. For the double passages, you should read both documents in order to understand the relationship between them. Some questions will require you to cross-check information between the two documents.
6. You should allow more time for double passages and use key words to locate the most relevant information.
7. Bear in mind that the questions are arranged according to the order they appear in the passage. This can save you plenty of time in answering the questions.
8. Consider that questions often use synonyms and paraphrased versions of parts of the text.
