RRHH Digital This week we will continue with the Reading Comprehension section of the test.
The reading section tests the candidate’s abilities to understand written English. It consists of three parts and lasts approximately 75 minutes. It includes a variety of texts and several types of reading comprehension questions.
Reading Comprehension is the second section of the test and includes four different parts: Incomplete sentences, Text Completion, Single passages and Double passages.
In today’s post you will find some tips and tricks to perform well in the “Incomplete sentences” part:
Part V: INCOMPLETE SENTENCES (40 questions)
This part of the test features sentences that contain a blank. There are four possible answers to complete the sentence, only one is correct.
1. Ask yourself whether the question is testing vocabulary or grammar.
2. Analyze the structure of the sentence and work out what part of speech is missing: verb, noun, pronoun, adjective, adverb, preposition, conjunctions and interjections. This will help you to choose the most suitable answer, especially on vocabulary statements.
3. Figure out the meaning or the type of word by looking at prefixes and suffixes.
4. Look for grammatical relationships in the sentence (cause/effect, conditionals, verb-tense agreement, etc.)
5. Reread the sentence with the selected answer and make sure it’s appropriate in terms of meaning and form.
